Hi all
The last 2 night were a bit different from each other for the Temperance St. swifts. On Sunday night (June5) I arrived at 8:40. It was raining a little at the time and I had not realized it had started to rain. I met Nelson and Pat Poirier there who had arrived about 8:10. There were quite a few swifts when they arrived and about 8:15 a Merlin made a pass and scattered them all. They reassembled and most went in before I arrived at 8:40. The Poiriers did not count, but there were hindreds. A few entered as well between my arrival at 8:40 till I left at 9:10 or so.

Last night ( June 6 was more of a typical night. It had rained a bit in the evening, but was not when I arrived early (8:10) because of the previous night. This was the last of the spring Swiftwatch nights and I wanted to get as accurate a count as possible. A few swifts appeared after I arrived, but it was 8:46 before one entered. The majorith piles in between 8:56-8:57 but there were stragglerrs to 9:14. My total for the nihgt was 515. A very fine show indeed. There were no other observers although someone pulled in at 9:00 and only saw a couple of swifts. It was only 14C, 100 % overcast and some sprinkles of rain at times last night.
cheers
ken
