After work this evening around 6:00 p.m. there was an otter swimming and diving around for a fair length of time here. Later on, and again, just after parking my car , I observed a beaver in pretty much the same spot in the water. The physically larger head and body, plus the piece of wood it was chewing on allowed me to distinguish it from the otter, which had previously been exposing its slender tail between dives. The beaver perhaps returned to finish off the apple tree that it (they) knocked down last fall just a few feet from the edge of the parking lot, before the Pond froze over.

I will be moving in the near future, just a short few minutes away, so it may taking used to not seeing the view and the sights I've seen here in the aproximate last 11 years , but on the plus side, Cardinals seem to be more regular in the upcoming new area. Gotta look at the big picture.
Cheers !
Bernard
