A present, there is a Fox Sparrow 'diggin' in the dirt' under the apple tre= e. First one I've seen this year! I usually get one or 2 visiting every yea= r before they head off up north. Yesterday, there was a male Red-winged Blackbird doing alot of posturing bu= t I did not see another male.=20 Still, the Red- breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches visit the peanut fee= der daily and a Brown Creeper appears periodically. Both male and female Hairy & Downy Woodpeckers visiting the suet cakes. 5 Grackles and 3 very brightly coloured Robins. The occasional Blue-jays an= d one or 2 Starlings. A good number of Song and White-throated Sparrows and Chickadees, very few = House Sparrows. The American Goldfinches are returning, the males bright yellow colouring a= ppearing. A family of crows have a nest somewhere in the Green-belt. The female Pheasant that was here all winter hasn't been seen for a couple = of weeks now. Yesterday I saw my first Osprey of the season over Lake Banook and 2 Canada= Geese swimming there also a couple of days ago.
