Lots of activity at my backyard feeders within the last few days.
A present, there is a Fox Sparrow 'diggin' in the dirt' under the apple tre=
e. First one I've seen this year! I usually get one or 2 visiting every yea=
r before they head off up north.
Yesterday, there was a male Red-winged Blackbird doing alot of posturing bu=
t I did not see another male.=20
Still, the Red- breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches visit the peanut fee=
der daily and a Brown Creeper appears periodically.
Both male and female Hairy & Downy Woodpeckers visiting the suet cakes.
5 Grackles and 3 very brightly coloured Robins. The occasional Blue-jays an=
d one or 2 Starlings.
A good number of Song and White-throated Sparrows and Chickadees, very few =
House Sparrows.
The American Goldfinches are returning, the males bright yellow colouring a=
ppearing.
A family of crows have a nest somewhere in the Green-belt.
The female Pheasant that was here all winter hasn't been seen for a couple =
of weeks now.
Yesterday I saw my first Osprey of the season over Lake Banook and 2 Canada=
Geese swimming there also a couple of days ago.
And a number of squirrels visiting the feeders too.
