Saw the pair of gadwall , 3 pairs pintail, 2 male ring-necked = ducks,Common mergansers 1 m and 5 f., and a flock of 30 green-winged = teal arrived , also a couple of eagles. Andy and Lelia Dean 86 Baden Powell Drive Kentville, N.S. (902) 678-6243 From: James W. Wolford=20 To: NatureNS=20 Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2011 5:25 PM Subject: [NatureNS] eagle nests, c. mergansers, gadwall, pintails MARCH 29, 2011 - Canning Aboiteau: only 26 Canada geese visible along = the river, but no search done further toward town -- no snow goose seen = -- 3 common mergansers together in river (2m,1f). Canard Pond (now about half open): 1 drake gadwall, 2 n. pintails (m,f = pr), 1 female or immature common merganser resting on ice. Other ponds opening up very gradually, some still completely iced. I checked the bald eagle nest south of Stirling's Farm Market in = Greenwich: definitely a white head of an adult eagle on/in the nest. = This nest is quite distant from Hwy. 1, but the west side of the = Stirling's greenhouse behind the market lines up closely (southward) for = where to look, and a spotting scope is really necessary. Aim at some = dead deciduous trees and look behind them in the pines, and try to = notice the white eagle head. I also looked again at the Noggins Farm Market bald eagle nest, and = there is no sign of any eagles there or nearby. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville ------=_NextPart_000_000E_01CBEED2.C31AFDE0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19019"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY=20 style=3D"WORD-WRAP: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; = -webkit-line-break: after-white-space"=20 bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Thanks for the 'heads up' = Jim,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>I visited the Canard pond this=20 morning.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Saw the pair of gadwall , 3 pairs = pintail, 2=20 male ring-necked ducks,Common mergansers 1 m and 5 f., </FONT><FONT = size=3D2=20 face=3DArial>and a flock of 30 green-winged teal arrived , also a couple = of=20 eagles.</FONT></DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE=20 style=3D"BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; = PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"=20 dir=3Dltr> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">Andy and Lelia Dean<BR>86 Baden Powell = Drive<BR>Kentville, N.S.<BR>(902) 678-6243</DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><BR> </DIV> <DIV=20 style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial; BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; font-color: = black"><B>From:</B>=20 <A title=3Djimwolford@eastlink.ca = href=3D"mailto:jimwolford@eastlink.ca">James W.=20 Wolford</A> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>To:</B> <A = title=3Dnaturens@chebucto.ns.ca=20 href=3D"mailto:naturens@chebucto.ns.ca">NatureNS</A> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Sent:</B> Tuesday, March 29, 2011 = 5:25=20 PM</DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Subject:</B> [NatureNS] eagle = nests, c.=20 mergansers, gadwall, pintails</DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 20px Helvetica" = size=3D5=20 face=3DHelvetica><B>MARCH 29, 2011</B> - Canning Aboiteau: only 26 = <B>Canada=20 geese</B> visible along the river, but no search done further toward = town --=20 no snow goose seen -- 3 <B>common mergansers</B> together in river=20 (2m,1f).</FONT></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px; MIN-HEIGHT: 24px; FONT: 20px = Helvetica"><BR></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 20px Helvetica" = size=3D5=20 face=3DHelvetica>Canard Pond (now about half open): 1 drake = <B>gadwall</B>, 2=20 <B>n. pintails</B> (m,f pr), 1 female or immature common merganser = resting on=20 ice.</FONT></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px; MIN-HEIGHT: 24px; FONT: 20px = Helvetica"><BR></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 20px Helvetica" = size=3D5=20 face=3DHelvetica>Other ponds opening up very gradually, some still = completely=20 iced.</FONT></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px; MIN-HEIGHT: 24px; FONT: 20px = Helvetica"><BR></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 20px Helvetica" = size=3D5=20 face=3DHelvetica>I checked the <B>bald eagle nest</B> south of = Stirling's Farm=20 Market in Greenwich: definitely a white head of an <B>adult eagle = on/in the=20 nest</B>.
