We live in an old house w= ith a stone foundation, mice seem better at finding small holes than I am a= t fixing them. Not susprising as my power of observation has been questione= d on this group a number of times.Anyway my wife assigns me the task of kee= ping the mouse population in check. This fall and winter has seen the fewes= t mice in the 25 years we lived here. Not up to double figures yet and none= lately. Some winters the figure approached 100. The variation probably has= something to do with the crop of acorns in the area. We have beautiful oak= trees in the yard. Not many tracks under the snow either. No doubt means ba= rred owls and foxes are hungry.Paul --- On Wed, 3/16/11, Helene Van Doninck <helene.birdvet@gmail.com> wrote: From: Helene Van Doninck <helene.birdvet@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [NatureNS] Dead Barred Owl To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Received: Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 12:04 PM Going to be a hard winter on owls with the deep snow and thick crusts.=0AOn= 2011-03-16 3:47 PM, "James Hirtle" <jrhbirder@hotmail.com> wrote: =0A=0A=0A=0A=0AHi all: =0A=A0 =0AI received an email from Chester telling me about a dead barred owl foun= d in behind the post office there.=A0 The reportee said that it was very em= aciated and light. =0A=A0 =0AJames R.
