The only new-for-the-year species of bird that I have seen here in Tr= emont this month is a Brown Creeper that has been here since 12 March. Oth= er than an occasional "fee-bee" from a chickadee or a "kill-deer" from a st= arling=2C the chamging numbers of finches here are the main avian clue to t= he season. They are evidently on the move this week=3B goldfinches have be= en variable=2C but there are still about 25=2C while an influx of a dozen C= ommon Redpolls on March 10 is now (March 16) down to three. =20 =20 Around the area=2C though=2C waterfowl are arriving and dispersing to an= y small open wetlands. On March 14 a pair of Hooded Mergansers had joined = the pair of Amer. Black Ducks in open water at the marsh at west Margaretsv= ille. Let's hope that they stay for Sunday's field trip and are joined by = more migrants. Many of the wintering birds such as Rough-legged Hawks=2C = Snow Buntings=2C and Lapland Longspurs seem to have moved away from their w= inter territories but may still be in the area. If you have seen some of t= hose this week=2C any early migrants=2C or other uncommon or interesting bi= rds=2C please contact me off-list=2C so that the visiting birders on Sunday= might have a better chance to see them. =20 Thanks=2C Wayne Neily=20 Tremont=2C Kings Co.=2C Nova Scotia 902-765-2455 "Think globally=2C Act locally." - Ren=E9 Dubos=2C 1972.=20 = --_15da71e4-406a-4bc2-8574-222dfeeea60b_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

<body class=3D'hmmessage'> Hello all=2C
=3B
=3B =3B As usual=2C signs of spring are scarce here= on the south side of the Valley. =3B The only new-for-the-year =3B= species of bird that I have seen here in Tremont this month is a Brown Cree= per that has been here since 12 March. =3B Other than an occasional "fe= e-bee" from a chickadee or a "kill-deer" from a starling=2C the chamging nu= mbers of finches here are the main avian clue to the season. =3B They a= re evidently on the move this week=3B goldfinches have been variable=2C but= there are still about 25=2C while an influx of =3Ba dozen =3BCommo= n Redpolls on March 10 is now (March 16) =3Bdown to three. =3B </FO= NT>
=3B
=3B =3B Around the area=2C though=2C waterfowl are = arriving and dispersing to any small open wetlands. =3B On March 14 a p= air of Hooded Mergansers had joined the pair of Amer.
