I thought it looked rather distressed?? Nearby, I saw a black/dark brown mink?? It has a quite long, furry tail and a white spot on its face. I am not an expert on such animals. Liz ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul Evans To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Sent: Friday, January 28, 2011 6:29 PM Subject: [NatureNS] Seal - Lawrencetown Lake There is a seal currently sitting on the Lawrencetown Lake Marsh ice across from the east end of the Lawrencetown Beach parking lot. Here is a photo taken just before dusk: http://paulevans.smugmug.com/Other/Wildlife/IMG9343/1170441420_F6HjA-L.jpg This seems like a very unusual location as it is fairly far from where the lake empties into the ocean. Another local resident stopped when I was taken photos and mentioned that the seal has been there since 10:30 this morning.
