--0050450172514010bc0494e29053 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Hello, This might be of interest to a lot of people on this list. I took a drive out to Chebucto Head this afternoon and the gate to the light house was open. The road was recently closed by the coast guard, not allowing people to drive right up to the lookout much to my chagrin, and I'm sure others. But today it was open and at the Lighthouse I ran into a maintenance worker who had opened the gate. He was very friendly and told me that the reason they have closed the gate is because of an arsonist (or many) who were burning cars up there and rolling them off into the ocean. As well, a women slipped and was hanging from some rocks and had to be helped up of the rocks, so they are now worried about liability issues. Very unfortunate, as it was so wonderful to be able to drive up to the lighthouse and sit in the car or get out to scope the birds without having to walk the whole road, especially in winter! Apologies if this is a repeat of something already discussed on naturens but I thought people would be interested in knowing the reasons for the closure.
