Hi Everyone;

I got down to Kingsburg Beach this afternoon and found the Snowy Plover. Clarence Stevens told me yesterday it was an easy one to get, and I should go for it. After half an hour of scanning hundreds of Semi-palmated Plovers and studying every one that looked lighter, I started grumbling under my breath: "easy to get, eh? Sure, Clarence, right!" I worked my way up the beach and towards the centre, in front of a grey house and a brown house, I saw it. It was so light, it stood out like a sore thumb! Clarence was right. It was easy to get! With its creamy beige colouring on the wings, its black beak and dark grey legs, it was hard to miss! Thanks, Clarence!

Directions: Exit 11 from Hwy #103. Turn left at end of exit ramp. About 1 km down this road you'll come to a 4 way stop. Continue straight towards Fauxburg and Lilydale. After about 10 km you'll come to a huge intersection. Turn right towards Bridgewater and Riverport (signed). About 1 km further down this road is a junction and Stop sign at Hwy #3. Continue straight towards Riverport. Follow this road around through Bayport, and at Rose Bay you'll see a sign for Kingsburg - left. Follow this road (332)to the end.
I first turned left at the foot of this road and then right within 100 meters and parked in the public parking lot that Stu Tingley wrote about. The birds were so far down the beach, however, that I thought I'd try to access the beach from the other end. I went back to the foot of the 332 and drove straight along Kingsburg Road (right at the end of 332). I passed a contemporary, weatherbeaten house with red trim, a light green house with a "land for sale" in front, and then a brown house and a grey house fairly close together. (The Snowy Plover was on the beach in front of these two houses). Then I passed another weatherbeaten house with yellow shutters and blue trim. I continued towards a beige house with a cream coloured verandah. About 100 meters before this beige house is a cart track, left, that leads to the beach. I believe this is where Tuma was told to access the beach. It's easy walking, no rocks, and much closer to where I saw the
 Snowy Plover.

Cheers;
Suzanne
