This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_MYWJ8HAmaevn4vno3d3LMw) Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT I have a (presumably aquatic, or semi-aquatic) creature - forgive my lack of knowing what else to call it - but it is behaving unlike anything I have seen before in my 10 year old pond. For the past 4-5 days approx it has been clinging just above the water level to the blade of a pond iris; it does not appear to have moved at all, other than occasionally to raise itself slightly up the blade to keep its rear end off the water. Its body is chunky, a pale beige colour overall and seems to have a 'hump' (?wing buds) on its back. I have wondered if it is some kind of dragonfly, of which I have many every year, but I have never before observed a creature like this staying the same position for so long and would like to understand what it is and why it is doing this. I can send photos to anyone interested in seeing it. Hopefully, Eleanor Lindsay Seabright , St Margaret's Bay --Boundary_(ID_MYWJ8HAmaevn4vno3d3LMw) Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-15 Content-transfer-encoding: 8BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-15"> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#000000"> <font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">I have a (presumably aquatic, or semi-aquatic) creature - forgive my lack of knowing what else to call it - but it is behaving unlike anything I have seen before in my 10 year old pond. <br> For the past 4-5 days approx it has been clinging just above the water level to the blade of a pond iris; it does not appear to have moved at all, other than occasionally to raise itself slightly up the blade to keep its rear end off the water.<br> Its body is chunky, a pale beige colour overall and seems to have a 'hump' (?wing buds) on its back.
