Hi all:

=20

For the purpose of the original posting it definitely was a ground hog. It=
sat right in the middle of the trail with its head straight up and was on =
its haunches looking straight at us. I had a clear unobstructed view and h=
ave seen enough of both species so as not to mistake one for the other.

=20

Sincerely=2C

I can't be absolutely sure=2C since I wasn't with you=2C but there's a poss=
ibility that ground hog you saw may have been a muskrat. I got fooled a co=
uple of years ago when I saw this brown roly-poly fellow alongside the Fren=
ch Basin Trail at the Annapolis Royal Marsh=2C and assumed it was a ground =
hog/woodchuck. However=2C after becoming more acquainted with the muskrats=
that inhabit that marsh=2C I realized that's what I had seen (I had taken =
several pics of him/her two years ago=2C so was able to make that determina=
tion). Yesterday=2C I saw two young fellows sitting side by side nibbling =
away on cattail shoots. I posted a shot of them to my blog.

Hi all again:
=20
I forgot to mention that there was a young deer today at the French Basin t=
rail with all white spots and also a ground hog. =20
=20
At Kingsburg Beach there was an adult fox with a snowshoe hare in it's mout=
h. I suspect that it has had a second litter there. I had a pair near the=
re with three kits over a month ago and the kits should be grown enough now=
to fend for themselves. I had two more red foxes on a lawn at Lower Rose =
Bay where a pair had three other kits that I know of. So three red foxes f=
or the evening in two locations.
