I can't find the original post now, but someone recently reported CLIFF SWALLOWS nesting under an overpass near Middleton (exit 18A). I passed through the area today and indeed, there were a total of 13 nests under the concrete structure. Just for fun, I stopped at most underpasses on the 101 all the way to Bridgetown, and found three more small Cliff Swallow colonies. Not many; just one, five and 10 nests, but amazing, given the roaring traffic passing underneath their nests almost constantly. Thanks to the original poster, there are now four new confirmed atlas squares to help flesh out the Valley a bit more for this easily confirmed (but under-detected) species. Brian Dalzell Moncton,NB.
