Hi Everyone;

We had a gorgeous day for our Hants County field trip! We tallied 73 species, our best tally yet for this trip.

We started at Mount Uniacke House with 14 participants. Highlights here included Eastern Wood-Pewee, Blackburnian Warbler, Black-backed Woodpecker and Pileated Woodpecker. On Elliott Road we had Northern Waterthrush, Veery, Least Flycatcher, Am. Redstart, Nashville Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler and Tennessee Warbler. By the end of the day we had tallied 16 warbler species. Near Smiley's Prov. Park we saw Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Bobolink, Brown-headed Cowbird and Swamp Sparrow.

We ended our trip at the St. Croix Recreation Park where we tried but did not see the American Bittern; however a pair of very active Pied-billed Grebes were a nice treat for us. The three pairs of Canada Geese with numerous goslings in tow were not too happy with the Grebes' antics. By this time we were down to 7 participants and we called it a day.

Cheers;
Suzanne Borkowski
