I had this most interesting visitor today at Horton Bluff (Avonport),
a male Indigo Bunting!. He was here at my feeder area, on and off
most of the afternoon from about 2 p.m. , last here about 7:p.m.
Very wary. It did not take much to put him to flight, where he would
disappear for 10 or 15 min before putting in another brief
appearance. The only photos I could manage were at a distance and
through 2 panes of glass (kitchen window overlooking feeder area).
This is the first of this species I've had at my feeder. Only other
one I've observed was one at Mrs. Urban's feeder (Avonport) several
years ago.

The crowning sight, about 7 p.m., was my male Rose-breasted Grosbeak
and the bunting, side by side, about 20 or 30 cm apart, together on
the platform feeder. What a colourful sight that was. By the time I
had the camera in hand the grosbeak had flown and the bunting left
a few seconds later.

Here is a link to a few photos I managed, (through window glass and
the zoom pushed a bit much).
