More than a week ago, on the afternoon of Saturday May 8, I saw about two dozen of them flitting among Rhodora (not yet flowering then, but they have since) on a rough footpath through bushy, rocky terrain off the Rails to Trails path in Timberlea, Halifax County. I did wonder at the time if that was their first day up and around.... This evening I had a walk in Hemlock Ravine, where I heard a Hermit Thrush singing in woods that were otherwise fairly quiet, except for a Mourning Dove, a B-t Gr Warbler, and what I think was some kind of wren (need to study up on wren voices).
