Index of Subjects All: There have been a few reports of Red Crossbills in the last few days. As a followup to David's message (below),we remind readers again that Matt Young is anxious to sort out or various Red Crossbill song-types (cryptic species?). There is also a grad student at Memorial Univ.interested in the possibility that the "Newfoundland Red Crossbill" gets here. It would indeed be good to establish which of perhaps a half-dozen possible types occurs here. Andy Horn (aghorn@dal.ca) would be glad to receive any recordings in several forms, which he can send to Matt Young. feeders, It should be possible to use camcorders and some digital cameras for birds at feeders, although recording devices might be better. Cheers, Ian Ian McLaren Quoting David Christie <MarysPt@nbnet.nb.ca>: > Greetings, > > Seeing a pair of Red Crossbills picking up road grit as I travelled > across Caledonia Mountain, NB, yesterday, reminded me of a month-old > request I had received from Matt Young at Cornell University, who is > very interested in receiving recordings of the calls of RED > CROSSBILLS [Bec-croisé des sapins] from the Maritimes.
