Hi Everyone;

Patricia Chalmers and I ran our last owl survey route a week ago. The weather was almost perfect with clear skies, no wind and no precipitation. We detected a total of 17 owls: 10 Northern Saw-whets, 6 Barreds and 1 Great Horned.

This is the second highest tally we've had on this route, the highest being 18 in 2002.

Besides owls, we were treated to loud choruses of Peepers, some Wood Frogs, "snoring" Leopard Frogs, Toads trilling, Loons, a Hermit Thrush, a Robin, and a White-throated Sparrow singing.

There's nothing like being out in the woods at night. It's so peaceful and pleasant.

Cheers;
Suzanne
