--=====================_457112984==.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed 6 May 2010 A Fox Sparrow has been singing on territory here in the Bayview Subdivision in White's Lake, since early April. We appear to be on the edge of its territory, as it is more often further up the hill, but it periodically sings very close to our house. It is not using our feeders, apparently, unlike the hordes of locally breeding juncos, White-throated Sparrows, and Song Sparrows. Despite its loud, persistant song, I've only managed a couple of glimpses of it. This is the first time this species has been on territory here. They do breed nearby in small numbers, always at the edge of the coastal forests, at Lower Prospect, near Prospect Village, and near Peggy's Cove. This year, however, I've yet to hear any at the aforesaid three localities.
