APR. 23, 2010 - Following Ian McKay's and Ulli Hoeger's directions to
a new? bald eagle nest, I drove north 30 km. on Highway 358 through
Canning to Scots' or Scott's Bay, and past the village to the sharp
turn to the east toward Cape Split. From that point I drove back
south for half a kilometre, to two gray-silverish metal barns (for?),
and the prominent tan-coloured nest is atop a lone spruce tree just
west of those barns. Another landmark there is the intersection with
Huntley Road.

As Ulli remarked, the nest is close enough to the road for viewing
but far enough away to minimize disturbances for the eagles.
However, there was no sign of any eagles either on the nest or in the
immediate area. Ulli did see an eagle standing in/on the nest when
he was there a couple of weeks ago, and he also has an informant who
said the nest was constructed this Spring in March? Ulli's day there
was very deeply foggy, but today's visibility was excellent under a
bright high overcast sky.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
