Laura and I decided we would take an enjoyable morning stroll at Martinique Beach Provincial Park. On route, the morning started out well with a Great Egret sighting at the Head of Chezzetcook. We saw the egret about 200 metres south of Highway 107, but the tide was rising.

At Martinique Beach the walk was cut short by a biting sand storm that was blowing into our face. Worse yet it was powered by a cold north wind. We were fortunate to encounter two Piping Plovers on our return leg along the beach. I think these birds may have just arrived since we didn't see them going down the beach.

We returned via the Shore Road at the Head of Chezzetcook since the tide was now full and the egret would have gone to roost. We had no luck finding the egret's roost but we did see a Great Blue Heron.

Hans
