Most aspects of natural =20 history occur on the surface of the Earth. Earth=92s surface (and its =20= biology, etc.) has changed drastically in the past. One only needs to =20= look at a dinosaur skeleton to bring that fact home, yet we take the =20 existence of life on the Earth=92s surface for granted. In astronomy, =20= one is often faced with looking at not only the =93big picture=94 but = the =20 =93long clock=94 view of things. Modern astronomers and biologists now =20= have tools that allow them to look far ahead and predict what may be =20 in store for Earth=92s long-term future. Will things end with a whimper, = =20 or a bang? Come find out! The meeting will be held in the Auditorium (lower level) of the =20 K.C.Irving Environmental Centre at Acadia University. Patrick Kelly has had a life-long interest in astronomy, and has =20 taught first-year astronomy at Acadia, Dalhousie, Mount St. Vincent, =20 and St. Mary=92s. He is a life member of the Royal Astronomical Society =20= of Canada, and is an active member of the Society=92s Halifax Centre.
