Hi Everyone; Patricia Chalmers, Bob McDonald and I ran my Sandy Lake Owl Route last night. Clear sky, fairly mild temperatures and low winds made listening conditions quite good. At some stops Peepers were loud, and some of the jets overhead were pretty noisy. We detected 9 owls: 4 Saw-whets, 3 Great Horneds and 2 Barreds. Many of them were distant and hearing them was a bit of a challenge. At our last stop, two Great Horneds were fairly close which made a nice wrap-up to the evening. We normally have more Barred Owls on this route, and in Tangier, which Pat and I did on Friday last, Barred owls were minimal. Has anyone else had a lot of Barred owls on their route? Cheers; Suzanne __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
