A beautiful day to walk at the Prospect Barrens in HRM. Thanks to Patricia's alert, I went to check on the Harlequin Ducks, and they were having a great time diving around the rocks. Also, some active chasing of females by a couple of males was going on (was it pre-breeding behaviour?) . Altogether I saw six beautifully designed males and four females.
The pitcher plants ( Sarracenia purpurpea) are poking up their new modified basal leaves. I saw no insects today, so they have time to grow their beautiful red death pitchers.
