Gayle, if there was any orange in the markings on the head, then =20
indeed it would have been a RED-EARED SLIDER OR TURTLE, which is an =20
alien species that can turn up anywhere in Nova Scotia and live a =20
long time, after being discarded or "set free" by previous pet =20
owners.  So if anyone sees this turtle in Sullivan's Pond, please =20
look carefully at the head stripes, which are all yellow in the =20
Painted Turtle.
