Apologies if this appears twice. Sent earlier but did not appear.

Today, around 2:30-3PM,on this 1st day of Spring, as I, and my Springer Spa=
niel, 'Dash' took a leisurely 2 hour walk=A0on this glorious day, I saw som=
ething odd looking, atop a rock, close to the island in Sullivan's Pond, th=
at is nearest to Hawthorn St. As I did not have my binoculars, I didn't kno=
w if it was a piece of wood, or what.
The water level at the pond has recently been lowered, making it possible t=
o go onto the island without getting my feet wet.
So, leashed dog and I, made our way onto the island and ventured toward the=
 edge closest to 'that rock'.
Astonishingly, it was a turtle, sunning itself!
It is the first time that I have ever seen a turtle at Sullivan's Pond! I d=
o know that they have been seen there over the years though.
I had a good look at this turtle and when I got home, I=A0 consulted the bo=
ok, 'Amphibians and Reptiles of Nova Scotia' written by John Gilpin, and it=
appears that this turtle is an Eastern Painted Turtle.
The fabulous weather, notwithstanding, this sighting 'made my day'!
