I had a Dovekie at close range in West Pennant a week ago. It is a good location for them and their movement is constricted.

Subject: [NatureNS] Black Guillemot and Common Loon

Yesterday while standing on the pier at Sambro Harbour I shot three of my better photos of the above captioned birds, Black Guillemot and Common Loon. The Dovkies although not shy are always about their business and getting close enough for a good photo is tricky, especially since they are "robin" sized, and the pier itself is 4 metres above the surface of the water. The technique to use here is to drift about the harbour in a dory and just be patient, if one had a dory.
