Jan. 25, 2010 (Monday) - Bernard Forsythe reports from his latest
winter list walk (today) that Sheila McCurdy has a male purple finch
in her Wolfville yard (off lower Sherwood Ave. on Dale St.)(Bernard
heard it but didn't see it), and, on his way there, he saw 150
Bohemian waxwings with about 20 cedar waxwings, also in Wolfville
(Pleasant St.?).

Also Jake MacDonald of lower Maple Ave. in Wolfville called on Sat.,
Jan. 23, to report hooting barred owls for the past several days, and
he thinks there are perhaps 3-4 of them nearby -- I wonder if hooting
barred owls are like coyotes in that their howling often sounds like
more individuals than there really are? Or maybe Jake lives where
two territorial pairs' boundaries are??

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
