Sometime during the nite I was awakened by an animal in the woods clo=
se to our house. For about 10 minutes it continued to make rather hig=
h-pitched scream that would last 20 to 30 seconds...there was no change in =
pitch at the beginning or end. My dogs, who were sleeping with me, go=
t extremely upset at this noise, so I couldn't always hear it above the bar=
king. Just curious, anyone have any suggestions as to what the creatu=
re would be that would make this type of noise? We have the Folly Riv=
er just below our house, and lots of mixed woodland. It seems to me w=
e had an animal like this at the cottage in Economy a couple of years=
ago, and the neighbors thought it was either a Martin or a Fisher. I=
was wondering about a Badger? Just curious, as my dogs run around lo=
ose on my property and I wouldn't want to put them in any danger. I'v=
e actually been saying lately that there is something around the house that=
is upsetting the dogs...they go out and bark once as if to announce themse=
lves, then are watchful, and stand quietly sniffing the air...there is defi=
nitely something different living handy our house!
Maria Forman
D=
