--=====================_445214953==.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed 9 November 2009 Wagner's Beach, Prospect Peninsula, HRM I walked the pooch to Wagner's Beach in the early afternoon. The woods were devoid of evident birdlife, but there was more action on or near the water. A few gannets coursed back and forth, a male harrier patrolled the barrens, and an American Pipit was flushed from the beach rocks, but the real surprise was a flock of 12 White-rumped Sandpipers foraging in recently replenished kelp mounds on the beach. This is one of few records of the species for the Prospect Peninsula (and the Chebucto Peninsula), and is the largest flock recorded.
