periencing big glass envy,

Bruce& --_9711cb13-2b9d-4b0d-bbf3-4c46fcee71c5_ Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable =20 =20 Thanks so much to everyone for your help with my shorebird ids. I really a= ppreciate that you took the time to answer. =20 As far as Richard's question regarding traveling with big lenses for bird p= hotography=2C I always take the 500m lens in a backpack as carry-on luggage= =2C without the camera attached. The camera and smaller lenses go into my = camera bag=2C also as carry-on. I have only tried this on domestic flights= as well as on a charter flight to Churchill but have had no problems. I h= aven't tried taking it on overseas flights as I didn't want to have to lug = that much equipment anyway once there=2C so I left the heavy lenses at home= in that case. The Canon 500 m actually comes with a heavy duty carrying c= ase that looks like it would stand up to an army tank but when I measured t= he dimensions of the case=2C I concluded it won't even fit under an airline= seat so I don't know what they were thinking. Apparently Canon has come o= ut with a new 500 m lens that is lighter than the original...but lighter in= weight resulted in a heavier price. =20 =20 Happy birding.
