The Dowitcher has a complex pattern of internal markings on the tertial and lower scapular feathers, which suggests a juvenile-plumaged Short-billed. The turnstone is not a Rock Sandpiper. Very nice photo gallery. A question - a 500mm. Canon L series lens is big and heavy. How do you carry it when traveling - hand-luggage or checked, and attached to a camera or separate?
