I spent some time in the wind Monday, Oct. 26 at Big I. Winds were strong from west or NW but I tallied just undre 50 species. There was a STORM PETREL still present along the N. Strait. I noted a male and female HARLEQUIN in ther same area.
There was an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the bar at west end of the island.
One Snow Bunting was present along the causeway and my first American Tree Sparrow was noted near the east end of the island.
Shorebirds Black-bellied plover-2, Greater Yellowlegs-7, Semipalmated Plover-8, Dunlin-60, White-rumped Sandpiper-1, Semipalmated Sandpiper-1, and Sanderling-24.
There were close to 700 Canada Geese and 43 Green-winged Teal.
I saw 25 Horned Lark and 12 Lapland Longspur.
Passerines were scarce with a few Robins, 1 Brrown Creeper a Ruby-crowned Kinglet standing out although I tallied 17 Golden-crowned Kinglets even in the wind.
cheers
Ken
