Hello, I went to eat my lunch today at the Beveridge Road in Melbourne. It was high tide and just starting to go down when I got there. It was a high course tide too, so there were alot of sparrows along the road. Nothing unusual. There was a flicker atop a small spruce tree and a few GW teals that flew by. There was also a GB Heron and 2 Gr. Yellowlegs in the small ponds just when you turn on the road. I continued to Cook's Beach in Pinkney's Pt. to see what was around. On the way there were 12 Turkey Vultures and a Northern Harrier. I counted 10 more Gr. Yellowlegs in the ponds. At Cook's Beach there were 4 BB Plovers along with at least 30 SP Plovers. There were a few other shorebirds too... 8 SP Sandpipers, 2 Sanderlings, and 1 White Rumped Sanpiper. There were likely more nestled in among the beach stones. Paul Gould Quinan, NS
