Hi John=20

Perhaps to take advantage of known crops of winter berries (mountain ash =
[dog wood], holly .....) in large staging areas along the shore while =
they await the favourable high pressure systems to depart our shores for =
a more Sothern climate.=20

Just a thought=20

  Subject: [NatureNS] Northeast Reverse Migration

For the past 3 days, I have seen hundreds of American Robins flying =
northeastward along the Northumberland Strait. They are travelling in =
flocks ranging in size from 6 to 40-50. They are consistently flying in =
this one direction, given a few degrees north or east. The winds have =
been consistently from the North or Northeast. So this movement is not a =
result of flying downwind which is believed to be a frequent cause of =
reverse migration. Any ideas on why such a large reverse migration =
would take place and last for 3 days?
