--Boundary_(ID_0e1jwCe09yRKQQXjVFPqXA) Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT OCT. 17, 2009 - I forgot to mention two things yesterday: my Norway rat is back at my feeders, and again today; and there were about 10 Canada geese at the Windsor sewage ponds. Which reminds me, Pat told me there were oodles of Canada geese all day long last Tuesday, Oct. 13/09, in the big field adjacent to the Hants Community Hospital in Windsor. In Harris' Pond in Canning at 2 p.m. there were 100 Canada geese and no obvious ducks at all. More exciting, in Lakeville's Silver Lake at 4 to 4:30 p.m., was an impressive honking gaggle? of about 500 Canada geese on the water, with no marked geese nor other species of goose. Some of the geese were splashing and moving a lot, and it took me a while to figure out that they were just bathing. Also present was a very active group of about 20 diving hooded mergansers, and a single pied-billed grebe that was not diving nor trying to hide at all. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville Jim (James W.)
