Hi All=20
First I have to apologize to the Naturens (only) crowd! I didn't realize th=
at my alert of this bird didn't make it on this list serve. Thanks mike for=
pointing it out.=20
The Eurasian Collared-Dove that first arrived at my feeders on Tuesday has =
been hear daily since. I haven't had a chance to "pattern" this bird yet (t=
o busy to keep watch) but it has started to settle in and become less wary.=
=20
Today C. Stevens jr and sr. were able to get great views of it at my feeder=
s. Although it wasn't until mid-late afternoon before it showed up today. W=
e spent most of the day moving around in the community trying to locate it.=
So in our absence it may of been in. The winds this morning were 60-70+km =
NW and cool and perhaps this bird just stayed roosted until the winds dropp=
ed to ~40 km in the afternoon.

During the search this morning Clarence Sr & Jr did locate 3 Blue Grosbeaks=
at the end of Prince Street.=20
On my way to Mulgrave on Wednesday for a meeting I had a very close encount=
er with a Sandhill Crane. It was standing in the middle of the road on the =
yellow line. It only cleared the hood, wind-shield, and roof by a mere few =
inches'. Only very hard braking prevented it from becoming a part of Randys=
' collection.=20

On Friday I seen my lifer House Wren. It was near the folk festival offic=
e. Mike King found it on Sunday just past the office. Today I had 1 (same/a=
nother???) across the road from my house and I was able to see it several t=
imes from the front step in the apple tree and hawthorn.=20
The biggest surprise (kinda) was getting an Eurasian Collared-Dove @ my f=
eeders for the afternoon. Wow these guys are big and hard to miss with a be=
autiful tail.=20
My neighbour stopped me two weeks or more ago now to ask me to ID some bi=
rds he'd seen just a short time b4. There were 10-12 doves that were feedin=
g on the side of the road. He noted that they were all uniform in in colour=
(pale tan) what he was troubled with was that they were so big. "Larger th=
an Pigeons" (his words). I'd like to see the rest of the flock if they're s=
till around the area.=20
We also had a Gnatcatcher taking flies off the step and the side of the h=
ouse this morning. Mike reported encountering a small flock (5) at Glasgow =
head on Saturday. This bird was likely one of these birds making there way =
west as per norm.=20
