I've uploaded some recent photos to my Pbase and personal websites, mostly birds, wildflowers, scenery, waterfalls, sunrises and sunsets. This year's absence of butterflies is spooky and possibly a portent of things to come, or maybe it's just an annual variation in populations, for reasons that we don't understand.

I'm trying to sort out the myriad of asters blooming around here this time of year. There are at least six local varieties of which I've posted three.

Bird migration is steady and light though out this area with the birds moving south along the coastline from Duncan's Cove to Sandy Cove, Bald Rock Road and Crystal Crescent Beach. The only reverse migrant so far is Baltimore Oriole. Most of the migrants are vireos and warblers, chased about from time to time by Merlins.

I almost stepped on a sleeping American Woodcock on Saturday morning at Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park. It's a debate on which of us jumped higher.

Hans
