Hi all
Polly Szantor and I did some birding at Big I. today. It was quite windy and somewhat birdless as far as passerines were concerned. We had 2 CASPIAN TERNS along the main beach.
The tide was pushing up a few shorebirds. I did not do an actual count, but there were ~ 20 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 15 BB Plovers, 20 Semipalmated Plovers, 3 Least Sandpiper, 2 White-rumped Sandpiper, 3 Willets ( western twang?), 7 Ruddy Turnstones, 1 Dowicher and 6 Sanderlings. There were no doubt more shorebirds than that present.
There were a good number of Yellow-rumped Warblers (~30) along the pines at the Wharf Rd. and an Ovenbird was travelling with them- Otherwise only 2 Yellow Warblers and a Common Yellowthroat.
Ann Doull reported a single Hummingbird at her island feeder and I also had one in Plymouth when I got home.
cheers
ken
