Our hummers are still active, and today the one we have been watching most attentively has been spending most of her energy driving away others of her species, but also has been attacking a Monarch Butterfly which has been visiting favourite flowers. I assume that the hummer does not intend to make a meal of the Monarch, but is just being territorial.
