Pat Hawes was a witness at Heather MacDonald's house, which is just north of Avonport Beach, in mid-afternoon. There were many hundreds on each of several windows and both inside and outside the house, but they didn't search very hard for the site of emergence, which must have been nearby. Pat did say, when quizzed, that the winged ants were of two very different sizes, and I guessed that the tiny ones were the males and the big ones the females. Also during the afternoon with the tide coming in but still 2-3 hours before high tide, Pat and Heather said they saw several or many very large flying flocks of PEEP SHOREBIRDS there.
