According to my Herald TV listings for today, TONIGHT at 11 p.m. on CBC Newsworld channel, "Nature: Silence of the Bees" (2007) will be shown -- one hour, should be without commercials but they will chop it up, I guess -- references are made during the show to update(s) on pbs.org Web site, where all the Nature shows and lots of other stuff, like Nova shows, are archived and available?, at least for purchase. In 2007 the phenomenon of Colony Collapse Disorder was brand new, having been first detected in 2006. After mentioning that honeybees suffer from oodles of different stresses and pathogens and pesticides like neonicotinoids, the show indicates the finding of a then-new virus in Australian honeybees that subsequently got transported via a exported/imported honeybee hives to other parts of the world. They mentioned that this new virus is probably not the cause of CCD, but just might provide the tipping block in combination with other stresses. I hope I've got the above correct -- I have seen this Nature episode twice now, including last night at 9 p.m. in its uninterruped form on PBS. I hope some of you saw it then, too, but the rest of you can now access most of the show tonight. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
