I visited Martinique yesterday afternoon with a friend. We walked along the=
middle section of the beach for a few kilometers but there wasn't too much=
to see, likely because there were so many people, not to mention the thick=
fog. Towards the far end of the beach was a flock of 10 sanderlings, but t=
hat was it for shorebirds. Song and savannah sparrows, and a few herring gu=
lls made up the rest of my bird list for the area. Next time I'll go in the=
morning! =0A=0AThe only unusual thing was a dead greater shearwater which =
was just at the water's edge. No obvious cause of death; no oil or entangle=
