I made a run down to Conrad's Island at Lower Rose Bay this evening. Pat h=
ad been there with a friend earlier in the day. She had taken note of the =
features of a bird she had seen . Yellow around the face and side=2C a whi=
te eye ring=2C pink legs=2C rufous on the wing with some yellow=2C and a sm=
all sparrow. Smaller then a savannah sparrow. Pat keyed it out to a speci=
fic species and was sure of her id. A sparrow that is not supposed to be h=
ere. Anyhow=2C I went looking for it=2C but was not successful. The only =
sparrows I did find there were song=2C savannah and numerous Nelson's Sparr=
ows. =20

There were a lot of shorebirds about=2C and I'm sure I missed some as I was=
 loosing the light.  I counted 12 willets=2C 18 short-billed dowitchers=2C =
25 semi-palmated sandpipers=2C two greater yellowlegs and a lesser yellowle=
gs.
