I have seen this add many times, the last time being a couple of hours =
ago. This question has been with me every time I have seen it.
The shape of the bird reminds me of a tern, the black makes me think of =
a black backed gull, the bird as a whole does not look like anything I =
have even seen before, either as a living bird or as a picture of one.
I have decided the picture is a creation of the artist and think it is a =
product of artistic license, and I would guess the people who pay for =
the picture are very happy that we spend so much time looking at it.
Anyone like to go for a boat ride?

Roland.

Subject: [NatureNS] A TV Gull quiz

Here's an exercise to occupy you on a dull (weather and birding) day. =
There is a TV ad (CBC, ATV), for the Cat, featuring some gulls , with =
artistic license, sitting on the Cat. They have slightly decurved red =
bill, red legs, all white heads, no black on the primaries, no dark =
markings on the head, etc. Question of the day for those who can see =
these ads - if the artist took a real Gull as his model, what is it and =
does it occur in NS or Maine? (N.B. I don't know the answer, but I =
thought people might have fun looking).
