I've uploaded 72 photographs to my highlights page for July 09. There are several photographs of wildflowers that could use some identification help. I've added two crummy images of the Little Egret taken from a great distance and severely cropped, about 5% left from the original frame in one case, but they identify the bird. The images start here with the usually hard to photograph Sharp-tailed Sparrow.

A group of us recently visited East Ironbound and Flat Islands in Mahone Bay to do some atlasing. Flat Island is uninhabited and requires a dingy to make landfall but it hosts some interesting plant life, and some good birds; Sharp-tailed, Lincoln's and Fox Sparrows. There is a dock and some folks on East Ironbound Island and surprising diversity in bird life suggesting some investigative possibilities for the fall migration. There may even be accommodation available! NatureNS is no place for photographic techno-babble but I shot every photograph on this trip two stops underexposed, for some obscure and long forgotten reason so some serious editing was required to salvage the images. I must develop some camera discipline. The photos from these islands start here.
