Yesterday Bernice and I were surprised to see an adult Black-billed Cuckoo flash
past our windshield near the Darthmouth entrance to the MacKay Bridge. This was
at the level of Shannon Park. Maybe that closed area offers some breeding
habitat.

Also interesting to see at Hartlen Pt. were the numbers of greatly bleached
gulls (don't know where and when they got in some subtanning) hanging around
the harbourside beach.  Some of the 1st-cycle Great Black-backeds looked almost
like huge young "Kumlien's" Gulls.
