I don't know if it's the weather, but this has been the worst year since we've been monitoring kestrel boxes in the St. Peter's area................ 15 boxes; as of July 4th one brood already fledged, one box with two nearly fledged and a third box with three downy chicks. One box with broken eggs, three with squirrel nests and one with a starling nest. One other nest had a rodent skull and some fur, possibly prey of a transient kestrel or saw-whet owl. The remainder had no sign of interest by anything. Billy
