Regarding the photo of the spruce grouse chick, note how young it looks and the feathered-out wing, and now I'm wondering again about the earliest age is for flight in these grouse chicks? Randy's info' was about 8 days? and my naive guess earlier was 4 days -- perhaps it's more like 6 days or so?
