The crows have been making lots of noise since early this morning. In the
back of my mind I was thinking there must be an owl out there somewhere, but
it wasn't for several more hours before I decided to go look. Great birding
... I know! Anywho... Off I went only to discover that all the noise was
coming from the old Norway Spruce that had the crows nest in it. It was at
least three weeks ago that I had heard the babies crying for their parents,
so they must have flown away by now!? Searching the tree I see the old
nest, pretty close to the top and next to the trunk. And there was
something in it... something big, very big. Hee hee... It was a big fat
raccoon trying to get some sleep. All curled up in the crows nest... you
could see its furry back rolling out of the top. I still hear the crows
now... how that raccoon sleeps I'll never know!

I've seen the raccoons asleep in these old Spruces since I was a kid, but
never curled up in a crows nest!

Cheers,
Ann M.
