Hi friends,
I have done a bit of investigating and have come to the
conclusion that what I thought might have been a spruce grouse and 8 chicks
was, in fact a mother ring-necked pheasant and her chicks. I was unable to
find them again, but after asking some of the local bird feeders in the area
I found a reliable source that told me that they had seen the pheasant and
chicks.
F.Y.I. There is a flicker nesting up the hill from my house in
Herring Cove, I have also seen two house sparrows nesting on Agricola St,
one just North, and the other just South of North St.
Three nighthawks were feeding and calling the other evening in
Herring Cove.
